What’s in the vial

A 30 mL vial of sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, used as a diluent and reconstitution solvent in laboratory research and analytical applications.

The rubber-stopper closure is built for repeated access under proper aseptic technique, and the preservative is what makes that repeat access possible.

  • 30 mL fill · rubber-stopper vial
  • Preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol
  • Sterility, endotoxins, pH and benzyl alcohol verified by an independent laboratory

Storage, shipping & compliance

Storage & Handling

Keep at controlled room temperature, 20 °C to 25 °C, away from strong light. Do not freeze, and do not leave vials in excessive heat.

Shipping & returns

Orders placed by 2 PM ET, Monday to Friday leave the same business day. Orders ship within the US via UPS or USPS with tracking, in plain, protective packaging. Because this is a sterile, lot-controlled product, we don't accept physical returns, opened or unopened. Documented damage, loss, or shipment errors are resolved with a replacement or credit. See shipping & returns.

How to verify your lot

Find the lot code printed on your vial’s label, open the COA library, and match the code against the published certificate — the lab’s certificate number and verification code are printed on the document so results can be checked at the source. Our guide to reading a certificate walks the document line by line.

Sourcing

BacterioWater is an independent laboratory research supplier. We do not manufacture, fill, or test this product. Each lot is manufactured and filled by a third-party facility and tested by an independent laboratory before release. What we do and don’t do.

Lab supplies

Add lab supplies to your order

Nitrile gloves, 200 µL pipette tips, 1.5 mL microcentrifuge tubes and 70% isopropyl alcohol prep pads for routine laboratory work. Add them to the same order as your vials and everything ships together, tracked, from the US.

Latex-free disposable gloves for routine handling, preparation and general laboratory tasks.

200 µL disposable tips for routine liquid handling and sample preparation.

Individually wrapped 70% isopropyl alcohol pads for laboratory cleaning and preparation.

For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Laboratory settings we supply

A preserved diluent is standard bench stock. These are the laboratory settings it is supplied for.

Research Laboratories

Routine dilution and reconstitution work where a preserved solvent vial is required.

Academic & Teaching Labs

Coursework and supervised study that call for a consistent, lot-documented reagent.

QC & Method Development

Protocols that need a traceable lot number and published test results for documentation.

Descriptive only. We do not advise on applications, and we publish no protocol, dosing, or outcome of any kind.

Product Questions

What laboratory buyers ask about the vial itself — composition, access, and packaging.

See all questions →
What exactly is in each vial?

Each 30 mL vial contains sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. Nothing else is added, and the composition is verified on the current lot's published COA.

What is the difference between bacteriostatic water and sterile water?

Plain sterile water contains no preservative and is intended for single access. Bacteriostatic water adds 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which suppresses bacterial growth so the vial can be accessed repeatedly with proper aseptic technique in laboratory settings.

Can a vial be accessed more than once?

Yes. The rubber stopper is designed for repeated access with proper aseptic technique, and the benzyl alcohol preservative suppresses bacterial growth between accesses.

Where does this product come from?

BacterioWater is an independent laboratory supplier, not the manufacturer. Each lot is manufactured and filled by a third-party facility and tested by an independent laboratory; we stock the finished vials and publish the certificate for the lot currently shipping.

How is my order packaged?

Orders ship in protective packaging with vials padded for transit. Every vial is sealed and lot-labeled, so it can be matched to its published certificate on arrival.
